Trust me, this dish is a true crowd-pleaser, perfect for entertaining guests or treating yourself to a gourmet meal at home.

Recipe: Blackened Shrimp on Homemade Tortellini with Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients:

For the Homemade Tortellini:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Blackened Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Alfredo Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Start by making the homemade tortellini dough. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the eggs and olive oil. Use a fork to gradually incorporate the flour into the eggs until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, then cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. While the dough is resting, prepare the blackened shrimp. In a small bowl, toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning until evenly coated. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until blackened and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface until thin. Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut out circles of dough. Place a small spoonful of filling (such as ricotta cheese or your favorite meat mixture) in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape, then press the edges together to seal. Fold the corners of the half-moon together to form a tortellini shape. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the homemade tortellini and cook for 2-3 minutes, until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  5. To make the Alfredo sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve the homemade tortellini topped with blackened shrimp and drizzled with Alfredo sauce. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. Enjoy your gourmet meal!
